Match notes
This was the second tier 3 team the GBS were going to take on and it had originally seemed like the opportunity to meet my personal goal of three none-loss results this season. Perhaps I should have taken it as a warning when I 'snake-eye'd the fan-factor roll, leading to a +2 FAME result for the Corruptors. The weather role was also a one and it seemed like a fairly consistent result for dice rolls throughout the game... which was less than entirely pleasing.

The Corruptors won the toss and decided to receive. Foolishly, given my three bribes, I decided not to field a single Secret Weapon, despite the fact that Underworld (with no Troll) are unlikely to score quickly. The kick was deep and I called a Blitz, which the team preformed admirably, right up until my pogoer failed his leap into the backfield, where he would have added some pressure. As it was the ball was picked up and kept in the backfield, whilst the frontline set about smacking up my team. T2 and I moved blitzed the safety (not putting him down and moved three players to wall off the ball carrier. I turned over before my pogoer could get back into the action, leaving him in a fairly useless position. A quick scramble back and my wall crumbled, leaving the ball carrier to move forward into a rough pocket. In response I closed down on it, although I still had players isolated upfield, leaving me players down in the scrum. For two turns I blitzed the ball carrier, and didn't managed to pick up / hold onto the ball during the Corrupter turn. Eventually my pogoer was BH, possibly by his own stupidity and as my team was thinned down, things got easier for the Skaven to out-strength me. Finally someone managed to breakaway with the ball and there was little I could do to prevent it being slotted home. A painful concession, given the amount of time the ball was contested. At least I still had two turns for a TTM! As it happened, I had to bring on the Chainsaw for the last two turns, during which he did nothing but provide a psychological threat, forcing the opposing team to keep away from him. The threatened TTM, was unnecessary, as the Corruptors, kept well back from the LoS and my receivers, allowing me to score with a simple hand-off, double GFI (with re-roll). An unnecessary TD to concede, which I can only attribute to the Chainsaw and TTM threats distracting Larsen from a standard defence.

The second half saw me bribe my Chainsaw back into the game, just to see it fail, despite the use of two bribes (1, re-roll, 1)(apparently this is allowed, according to the newest FAQ, available online).
I decided to go for a left-wing punch, using my two player advantage to beat my way past the Underworld scum. The kick scattered right and a Quick Snap removed the front line from the inevitable beating I would otherwise have dished out. Nevertheless the turn went well, as I grabbed the ball, walled it, and formed a pre-emptive pocket on the left flank. As with the last drive this quickly descended into a morass, with each of us piling in players and blocking to gain advantage. It wasn't going well until an amazing T4 in which my Fanatic took CAS'd and KO'd in the same turn and another player was taken off, my ball-carrier made a break for it and even my troll managed an unsupported move. If I had only known, I'd have made a GFI or two with ball-carrier. As it was, I was feeling pretty confident going into Larsen's turn. Unfortunately, he managed to pull together a two-dice blitz (with dodges and GFIs galore) and take down the carrier (on a clean POW!) and secure the ball as well. At this point, my only hope was to try and bring down the ball-carrying Thrower and draw. It wasn't to be, as the now severely out-numbered goblins were locked out of play and turns ended faster and faster with failed dodges. My last four turns, probably took about 5 minutes total, and even my cunningly wrought half-dice blitz on the ball-carrier (from a thrown Goblin) didn't work, even after the re-roll. It just wasn't meant to be.

Many thanks to Larsen for an awesome game, great company and enjoyable opposition. Also thanks to Jonas for his support, cheerleading and long-suffering victimisation at the hands of my bad-luck fuelled verbal abuse. I hope the beer was worth the cost!
