GIF Takes lead in group E after winning against former leader in a tight match.
Tüskarna started as offence but halfway into first half GIF took control of the ball and took the lead after  Þorfrid scored the games first touchdown. The rest of the half was more violence oriented with the goal maker from GIF killed Herman . Tüskarna tried to match the escalated violence from GIF but their attempt to use the fans failed when GIF apothecary put Defensive blitzer Rannveig back on the field.
Second half GIF started as offence and kept the ball out of reach from Tüskarna. The home team once again tried to use the fans for an easy kill but Hilda got away with a few bruises and after spending a few weeks in physical therapy he will be back for the final group match. GIF Failed to score though even if it was close last turn when Yngvild that had stood alone at the end zone a few turns got a failed pass from pid (969) that ended up next to him. on the bright side for the 6000 GIF fans is that goal scorer Þorfrid managed to badly hurt journeyman Bruno right before the failed pass. Even though he did not manage to score last second Yngvild got the MVP for GIF for his excellent position play that made the win possible. Tüskarna got their MVP on Frank that symbolised their defensive approach to their opposition. Their inducements with a mercenary on the line and a blood weiser babe was tactically right though and probably kept the game as tight as it still was.

Three Games - Three Deaths!
Will the coach exhaust the Blood Bowl players during the first season?
In their game against Gjallarhornets IF , Tüskarna från Linghed lost their third player, bringing their dead up to three in as many games. Maximilian was sat on by the Underworld troll, and an up and coming journeyman lost his life against the Khemri. Now Herman has left the team, the pitch and this world.
This was not one of Tüskarnas better games, and the slight skill advantage of GIF made a difference in the end.
GIF won the coin toss and elected to kick. Initially things looked good for Tüskarna and their brilliant coaching earned them an extra re-roll. They also got an early knock out and managed a satisfying cage.
Unfortunately they completely failed to press the advantage on the right side of the pitch where their cage was formed. GIF first managed to stall and then grab the ball from the offensive Tüskarna. After a close call the first half ended without any touchdowns.
GIF set up to receive in the second half, and made a strong push down their left flank with a loose screen to protect the ball carrier.
Tüskarna pushed GIF though, and they were forced to score with one fourth of the game time left.
Setting up for the equalizing touchdown Tüskarna had plenty of time on their hands, but a timely Blitz by GIF suddenly made that prospect a lot harder. Playing fast and risky Tüskarna lost the ball in GIFs half of the field. After much pushing and punching GIF managed to move the ball away and secure their victory.
Tüskarnas coach made this statement after the game: "We played to cautious in the first half and should have pushed more. I the second half we were too reckless when trying to score the equalizing goal though. The players could have stepped up a notch, but the blame lies with me".
This brings Gjallarhornets IF to the top of Group E, with Tüskarna från Linghed in a comfortable second position with two games to go. |
